What To Expect Going Forward

New Life Circumstances! New Website! New Me! New You!

2025 brought about a whole lot of life changes - everything going on in the world aside - and the majority of the year has been spent adjusting to these changes.

  • I was laid off from my day job as a scientist back in February and have spent considerable amounts of every week job hunting in a crumbling biotech market

  • I started learning to code and am making solid progress in building up enough of a skill set to start tackling bioinformatics and data science in the next few weeks

  • Fell into, then dragged myself kicking-and-screaming out of a post layoff writing slump - which I still fall into and climb back out of on occasion

  • Finished writing, editing, and started shopping around a new book - Witchlings of Paint and Aether - for publication (still in progress)

    • This was the reason for the website revamp - I needed to bring my self-presentation up to line with my present writing level. The PsyenProject.com just wasn’t cutting it anymore, especially considering that I had long since expanded beyond the Psyen Proiect itself

  • Wrote a couple short stories

    • An Otherwise Pleasant Afternoon: A fun, somewhat horrifying (as usual), slice-of-life about a Witch and a pastor who more or less run a town together while maintaining plausible deniability (to themselves and others) about their relationship. Might end up being a jumping-off point for a new series down the line since I really like our MCs

    • [REDACTED]: A short horror picture book that I will announce at a later date

  • Outlining two new novellas (still in progress)

    • Dracowitch: The Magical Revolution

    • Beneath the Witch’s Atelier

  • I also have been watching a lot more anime and reading a lot more manga lately

    • I’ll probably start making some blog posts of recommendations as we go forward, since I’ve been writing up recommendations to my friends anyhow, I may as well write them up here if for no other reason then cataloguing purposes

  • And of course FUCKING SILKSONG FINALLY CAME OUT A FEW WEEKS BACK AND IT’S VERY GOOD

    • Along with other games… which I’ll also probably write about because I should write about games I like too since I spend so much time playing them

  • More game development with Tearcell Game Studio

TLDR;

In summary, what we can expect here at the new James Thomasos Writing blog going forward is:

  • A new short story every couple of months

  • Progress updates on current novella/novel

  • Reviews of Anime, Manga, and Videogames when I’ve got strong feelings about them

  • Also sometimes I get in a mood to write about the alcohol I drink, so that might happen on occasion

That about brings us up to speed. I look forward to sharing more stories of every variety with y’all.
